March is Women’s History Month! Although women should be celebrated every day, this is a great time to honor women-related causes, organizations, and businesses.
This month, the beauty and makeup brand Benefit teamed up with Dress for Success, a non-profit organization. Dress for Success provides women with professional attire and other resources that support them as they navigate the job search and the interview process. Benefit’s goal was to raise $35,000 for women worldwide by using their platform to encourage followers to donate one hour’s worth of pay to the non-profit.
Like Benefit, Keds also chose to support Dress for Success this month. On March 8th, International Women’s Day, $25 was donated to the non-profit organization for every sneaker purchase. These donations reflect their mission statement: “to empower women to be who they want to be and go where they want to go.”
Following in the footsteps of Benefit and Keds, PINK donated $50,000 to Dress for Success. They also partnered with artist and poet Amber Vittoria to design a limited-edition clothing collection.
Ugg relaunched their #PowerByHer campaign this year featuring Tommy Dorfman. During the first two weeks of March, Ugg donated $25 to Planned Parenthood Southeast for each purchase of their Fluff Yeah Slide in color “Sky Purple.” Ugg collaborated with HERproject to create the #PoweredByHer campaign, first launched in 2020. The HERproject aims to “educate and empower low-income women working in global supply chains.”
These brands chose to support amazing causes during Women’s History Month. Brands must continually examine their social responsibility efforts and seek opportunities to give back. Not only will they earn the respect of their public and stakeholders, but brands have the power to make the world a better place.
