What’s up PRowlers?! My name is Lauren Marhefka and I will be your Director of Finance for the 2017-2018 school year. I am super excited for PRowl this upcoming school year as we are celebrating our 10th anniversary and can’t wait to start working with all of you! I am a senior majoring in Strategic Communications with a concentration in public relations and minor in sport management. I will also be serving as Temple PRSSA’s Director of Fundraising this year. I started my journey at Temple in August 2016 after transferring from Louisiana State and have been fortunate enough to have endless opportunities and amazing memories ever since.
Networking and internships are crucial to your development as a PR or communications professional and if at any time I can be of assistance, please feel free to reach out! I first interned with Lehigh Valley IronPigs, the triple-A affiliate for the Phillies, last summer where I was a Game Day intern. During my time there, I was able to gain experience in many of the different departments within a sports team including ticket sales, marketing, game operations, community relations and many more! This summer, I’ve been interning with a professor in Temple’s STHM and his start-up company and app called AthleteCRUSH. There, I am the Marketing and Social Media intern where I handle all the social media platforms and write articles biweekly, in addition to helping with the development of the app. As for this coming Fall, I will be interning with the Philadelphia Union in their Partnership Marketing department and am more than excited for the opportunity!
As for my summer, I’ve been busy with my internship at AthleteCRUSH but also have been working part-time with the Philadelphia Eagles, helping with game day and event operations. Both have been really fulfilling experiences and have allowed myself to connect and network with many sport professionals all over the country. On top of my internship and work, I have also been taking summer classes at Temple in both Summer I and II sessions so to say I’ve been busy is a bit of an understatement!
I can’t believe that I’m going to be graduating next May but I am so excited to spend my senior year of college with all of you!
